JCU Neuroscience students again victorious at ECSC!

At the 73rd Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference (ECSC), four Neuroscience students received manuscript awards: Kate Fike, Isabella Lane, Viktoriya Partyka, and William Sweeney. Two students also won awards for their poster presentations: Allison Mancuso and Kate Fike.

The manuscripts and posters were a culmination of an independent research project, which is a component of the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Concentration at John Carroll University.

ECSC is the oldest undergraduate research conference in the United States. For 32 consecutive years, neuroscience students of Drs. Murphy and Wideman have received Excellence/Outstanding Awards for research in Biology, Chemistry and/or Psychology at the ECSC. The Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Concentration at JCU involves students who major in Biology, Chemistry, or Psychology.

Congratulations to the John Carroll University Women's Basketball team on their amazing win last night. A special shout-out to Leslie Aguilar--a first year Biology student on the team--on being the #2 scorer for game. And, from the Biology Department Chair--thank you to the team for the invite to be the guest coach--it was an honor. Go Streaks!

After playing two tightly contested games over the weekend, the John Carroll University women's basketball team welcomed a drama free evening at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

The Biology Department is looking forward to the first JCU STEM Internship & Career Fair on Oct. 17 from 1-3 pm in the Dolan Science Center. A great way for students to network and identify potential employers, including the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and more!
