Honors Spotlight: Angelika Babicz

Angelika is an English Literature major with minors in Marketing and the Honors College, and a member of the Dual Degree Program. During her time at GovState, she has been actively involved across campus, working with Marketing and Communications and serving as the Founding Member and Vice President of Reading Jaguars, the university’s book club.

Her passion for literature has guided her journey, and one of her proudest accomplishments is being published in Reconstructed, GovState’s Art and Literary Journal.

After graduation, Angelika plans to pursue a career in the publishing industry.

Her advice to fellow students: "Get involved and take advantage of what’s around you. GovState offers more than people may realize, especially when it comes to building connections and experiencing different experiences."

Looking back at past Honors College Banquets as we get ready for this year’s celebration.

While we celebrate our students and all they’ve accomplished, the banquet is also a moment to recognize the faculty and staff who support them every step of the way.

It’s always a meaningful evening for our entire Honors community. We’re looking forward to gathering again soon!

Honors College Student Spotlight!
We are excited to recognize Victoria Gómez, an Honors College student majoring in English with minors in Ethics and Creative Writing.

Victoria will graduate in May 2026 and has been accepted to Emerson College, where she will pursue her MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) through a fully funded three-year fellowship.

She was drawn to Emerson’s incarcerated writers’ workshop, which reflects her passion for working with diverse communities and her goal of becoming a writing program director.

Victoria credits her success to the support of the English faculty, the Dual Degree Program, her involvement in student organizations, MarCom, and the Honors College.

Her advice to other students:
“I would encourage Honors students to apply for opportunities even if they don’t feel 100% ready. I promise, no one ever is.”

Join us in celebrating Victoria and her incredible accomplishments!
