AI Creative Labs are hands-on learning experiences where students explore the creative potential of generative AI by making music, designing games, and telling stories.

📖 AI Story Lab: create a brand new storybook world

Each lab invites students to experiment, collaborate, and build something original using AI tools. Faculty can schedule a lab to bring active, project-based learning into their course while introducing students to the future of creative work.

IMEX Lab collaborated with Kyle Bohunicky from the Office for Research and Graduate Education in the College of Agricultural Sciences to create a mixed reality exhibit for Ag Progress Days. 🚜🐄

The goal was to connect physical objects with stories about the Penn State research behind them. Using Meta Quest 3 headsets, Unity and ChatGPT, we developed a custom mixed reality app that recognizes QR codes placed alongside each object and displays an accompanying video in the participant’s physical environment.

During the event, visitors could explore and learn about Penn State research involving cacao plants 🫘, tomatoes 🍅, micro-greens 🌱 and plasma agriculture 💧.

Have you heard of Adobe Podcast? This new, browser-based audio tool puts the emphasis on your content, taking the hard part out of recording and editing for individuals and groups. Some features:

🎙 Record on your own or with in-person and remote guests easily
⌨️ Edit your podcast as text, no audio tools required
🌠 Create "audiograms" with captions for video platforms

University Libraries offered an open house on July 16 and Maker Commons showed up with a hands on activity for faculty and staff visitors.

With pre-cut vinyl graphics at the ready, our staff assisted participants in creating their own custom-designed mini bags. 🎒

Those who stopped by were able to learn more about all that can be created in the maker space in Pattee Library, as well. A custom zine about creativity also acted as a guide to all Creative Learning Initiatives offerings for those who wanted to explore further!
