It’s Wednesday! Time for our last senior recognition post. Last but not least is our Madame President ! Ally Avant, from Water Valley, Mississippi, is graduating Summa Cum Laude from The University Mississippi’s department of Political Science. In her 4 years with SO Ole Miss, Ally participated in both flag football and basketball, all while serving as President of the organization her senior year. Ally’s favorite memory from her time with the club is “watching our SO family welcome new people into our community every semester. It’s rare to find a group that’s so tight-knit but always has space for someone new. I’m proud to have been part of a group that always welcomes new people with open arms. Everyone has a home here, and I loved being part of this family.” After graduation, Ally will spend the next three years pursuing her Juris Doctor at the University of Mississippi School of Law.

We cannot thank Ally enough for the countless hours she has spent developing this club. During her time as President, SO Ole Miss has more than doubled its number of athletes and partners, and she deserves all the praise for it! This isn’t a goodbye Ally, it’s a see you later! Good luck in Law School, and we’ll see you at the flag football fields this fall!! @ The University of Mississippi - Ole Miss

It’s Unified Wednesday! Today, we are honoring senior Trey Skocy! Trey is from Mattoon, Illinois, and graduated Cum Laude in December with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. He was also recognized as a member of Ole Miss’s 2020 Who’s Who Class. This spring, Trey began graduate school in the University of Mississippi’s Higher Education program. In the fall, he will begin coursework at Eastern Illinois University in order to become a licensed speech pathologist. Trey has been involved with Special Olympics College Ole Miss since his freshman year, participating in flag football, soccer, and basketball. Trey is currently serving as our club Secretary, but he also served as Vice President as a sophomore and President as a junior. Trey says that his favorite memory with SO College Ole Miss is coming to Unified every week and seeing everyone’s smiling faces. He says, “Special Olympics smiles (both partners and athletes) will be my favorite memories from Ole Miss.” Our club would not be what it is without Trey’s hard work and investment. Mostly, though, we are grateful for the fun and welcoming environments that he always creates! Trey is every athlete’s biggest cheerleader, and we can’t wait to cheer him on as he moves into a new chapter. We are so proud of all that Trey has accomplished and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Congratulations, Trey, and thank you for serving our club so selflessly! Once again, it’s Wednesday! This week, we are honoring senior Joseph Kuchta. Joseph is from Houston, Texas, and will be graduating in May with Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. After graduation, he plans to stay at Ole Miss to attend graduate school. Joseph has been a member of SO College Ole Miss for four years, and is currently serving as our club’s Vice President. He also served as club Secretary during the 2018-2019 school year. Joseph says that his favorite memory during his time with Special Olympics has been watching the club grow from a small group of people his freshman year to nearly sixty partners and athletes this year! We are so proud of all that Joseph has accomplished thus far, and we are excited that he will stay in Oxford a little while longer. Congratulations, Joseph, on a wonderful college career, and thank you for four years of service and fun! Hotty Toddy! @ The University of Mississippi - Ole Miss

It’s Wednesday evening, so you know what that means! This week, we are honoring senior Hannah Morrow. It’s Wednesday, so it’s time to celebrate one of our awesome seniors! This week, we are recognizing Alex Weber. Alex is an accounting major from St. Louis, Missouri. He is graduating Cum Laude with a Master in Taxation, and after graduation he will return to St. Louis to work as a tax associate for KPMG. Alex has been involved with Special Olympics College Ole Miss for four years now. When asked what his favorite memory is, Alex said: “My favorite memory was when Dan started heating up from three, and made three in a row behind the arc. Win or lose, the athletes always showed tons of grace and class, and I loved every second of SO!” We are going to miss Alex, but we are so excited to see where the next chapter takes him. Congratulations on a great four years, Alex, and good luck in all your future endeavors! Thank you for four years of fun and encouragement on the field and the court!
