People ask me all the time what are the best exercises to do to improve their pelvic floor health. I also get asked about trending TikTok reels that are about pelvic floor health and if the advice given is true or will help them.
But what is something that I feel doesn’t get discussed enough? Encouraging our patients and community to do the s**t that LIGHTS THEM UP! Engagement in meaningful activities with people who brighten your life is probably one of the most important things you can do for your pelvic floor health.
Yeah core strength is cool, midfoot loading is great, pooping well is important - but your joy and happiness is even more important.
I always ask patients what they enjoy doing and make sure we find ways to include their joys in their care. And if they’re feeling limited by their pelvic floor issues, we absolutely make sure to address that!
Your nervous system and pelvic floor health go hand in hand. This is why it’s so important you do the things YOU want to do, and surround yourself with people who light you up.
And don’t be afraid to be yourself. I can definitely say I’m a black sheep in the pelvic health space and have learned to embrace it.
Im not someone who has a million followers, trendy reels, or makes millions with my business - but I am assure you I am me and learning to be proud of that.
