Federal budget decisions made by Congress will determine the level of support available for early childhood programs like Head Start, child care assistance (CCDBG), early intervention and preschool special education, and campus-based child care for student parents (CCAMPIS).

For early childhood educators, these decisions directly impact the classrooms you work in every day—the resources available, program stability, and the supports families rely on in your community.

That’s why it’s important for Congress to hear from educators and those who understand the realities of early childhood education firsthand.

Add your voice as an early childhood educator and help inform federal funding decisions. https://bit.ly/49jUn9w

The bar has never been lower for our young people. One could argue that the same could be said for us adults.

When the bar is on the floor, it shouldn’t surprise us when everyone trips on it.

Two hundred years ago, 16-year-olds weren’t “kids” in the modern sense. They were building lives, taking real responsibility, and contributing to survival in a world that didn’t coddle them.

Today, we treat capable young people like fragile dependents who need constant hand-holding, safe spaces, and endless extensions… all while surrounding them with air-conditioning, smartphones, and zero existential threats.

Human potential expands to the standards we set.

Real care looks like raising expectations with support, not removing the expectations altogether.

Goes for all of us.

💙💙💙 Our Fall 2025 Early Educators were featured in the college's Connect publication! As part of our Education: Early Childhood program, these students are preparing for careers in teaching through a pathway that leads to our associate degree aligned with Michigan's Birth-Kindergarten teacher certification. Their advocacy efforts on this project truly reflect the professionalism they’ve been building as future teachers, and we couldn’t be more proud!
