📚✨ Black History Month Spotlight: Toni Morrison ✨📚
“If you want to fly, you have to give up the things that weigh you down.”
Toni Morrison was a Nobel Prize winning author whose words gave voice to Black identity, memory, pain, and beauty. Through novels like Beloved and The Bluest Eye, she told stories that history tried to silence and reminded the world that our stories matter.
She didn’t just write books.
She preserved culture.
She protected truth.
She honored Black life with depth and dignity.
Her legacy challenges us to, tell our stories boldly, think critically, protest our history, celebrate our beauty.
Black stories are powerful. Black voices are necessary. Black literature is history.

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Reflection:
Black history reminds us that faith and justice have always walked hand in hand. From those who prayed through the struggle to the people who stood boldly for freedom, Gods call has never changed do what’s right, show love even when it’s hard, and stay humble while making a difference. This month isn’t just about remembering the past, but also about living out faith in a way that brings light, unity, and real change today.

✊🏾Black History Month Spotlight: The Black Panther Party✊🏾

To kick off Black History Month we will be diving into the Black Panther Party and their importance in Black History. Founded in 1966, Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale started the Black Panther Party to address racial injustice and inequality faced by Black communities in the United States.

While the group is often remembered for its bold imagery and activism, an important part of their legacy was their community programs including free breakfast programs for children, health clinics, and educational initiatives. These efforts aimed to uplift and protect underserved neighborhoods during a time of widespread discrimination.

As we reflect during Black History Month, it’s important to study history honestly recognizing both the challenges of the era and the ways people sought justice, dignity, and community care.

📚 Learning our history helps us grow in understanding, empathy, and responsibility toward one another.
