The Communications Library supports the instructional and research programs of the UIUC Department of Communication and the College of Media, including the Department of Advertising, the Department of Journalism, the Institute of Communications Research, and the Department of Media and Cinema Studies. Its collections contain over 16,000 volumes of books, journals, newspapers, as well as materials
in other formats, on advertising, journalism, media studies, radio and television broadcasting, telecommunications, popular culture, public relations, communication theory, polling and public opinion. Its collection is augmented by thousands of volumes on these topics in the Main Library Bookstacks as well as related materials in other departmental libraries. The Communications Library’s collections include the D’Arcy and Woodward collections of historical advertisements, the Stanley F. Cohen Collection of clippings and documents related to his tenure as Washington editor of Advertising Age and the Fund for Investigative Journalism Collection.
