After a great performance at competition this year, we want to take time to recognize some of the sponsors that helped us reach our goals. Today we’re highlighting Sons Of Sormaz, a machine shop run by two Illini Motorsports Alums! Sons of Somaz is a rapid engineering and manufacturing company based in Illinois. Sormaz excels at delivering high quality parts and meeting tight deadlines. Without their generous support, we wouldn’t have reached our rolling car gate.

We also want to shout out two of our members who will be spending their summer interning at Sormaz. We wish them luck and can’t wait until they’re back at our machine shop in the fall to show off the skills they've learned!

As our team at Illini Motorsports prepares for the upcoming FSAE Michigan competition, we would like to thank the many key sponsors that have supported our 2023 FSAE Journey. One such sponsor is Fictiv.

Our hubs and uprights were designed to deal with new suspension loads and aggressively save weight, and as such, they are not easy parts to manufacture. Due to circumstances out of our control, we were not able to get our students CNC trained in time to manufacture our uprights and hubs in house, so we prepared to outsource this work. We had not planned to take on this expense at the begin of the season, and the lead-times given to us by many companies would have caused us significant delays. Thankfully, Fictiv eagerly jumped in to support this manufacturing job and partner with us. Beyond saving us time and money, they have invested in our future and supported our mission to develop high quality race vehicles and proven young engineers. We are immensely grateful for Fictiv, and urge you to consider using them for your future CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, or urethane casting manufacturing needs . Fictiv delivered on time, to the given specifications, with clear communication along the way. Thank you to Jenn Miller and all those at Fictiv for making this wonderful partnership possible and fruitful!

Two weeks ago, we had the incredible opportunity to travel Michigan to test our 2022 FSAE car in a wind tunnel at the Stellantis headquarters. Opportunities like this are rare for student teams, and we are incredibly grateful to have had this experience to collect valuable data. Thanks to for this great opportunity!
