The May Core Image of the Month was taken by John Hodge and Min Ya using the LSM 710 🔬. The image depicts an 8 micron serial section of an eight day old developing leaf primordia 🌾 from Setaria viridis (ME34). Within each cell, RNA transcripts are labelled in pink, while cell walls and nuclei 🧬 are labelled in blue. These plants are one of many varieties used for energy and sustainability research here at the IGB. To learn more about our energy crop research initiatives, visit our website via the link in bio.
