The work in the SRS is all about sources and the innumerable possibilities that come with them, including knowledge and memory. On May 26, we said goodbye to our colleague Serenity Stanton Orengo. Serenity moved to Ohio to be closer to family and friends. To the best of our knowledge, there is no source that can help you cope with the departure of a wonderful comrade. These last couple of years have been extremely stressful because of the funding crisis that has impacted the SRS. Throughout this entire time, Serenity has been a rock. Someone who brings hope, confidence, positivity, and excellence to everything she touched. We created a publishing consultation service together, ran research forums that benefited students and early career scholars, and expanded SRS services. Many students and scholars have come to rely on Serenity’s expertise. We will continue Serenity’s excellent work and always remember her extraordinary contributions to the SRS. Thank you, Serenity!

PS: We will still work together on Writing Across Boundaries and the American Bibliography of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (Serenity is the Managing Editor)

The SRS is hosting an informal virtual workshop on AI Applications in REEES Research on April 23 at 2:00 pm Central US and Canada Time. We recognize that there is a lot of excitement and anxiety associated with artificial intelligence and its role in the research process. Through this informal workshop, we are selectively highlighting AI applications and facilitating a discussion.

The following applications will be covered: AI Digital Archivist App, Collections Metadata, Model Context Protocol and AI Clients, NotebookLM, Google Scholar Labs, Alisa AI and Semantic Scholar.
