Weโ€™re excited to announce Amy Roady as the inaugural director of the James F. Evans Global Center for Food and Agricultural Communications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

A proud alumna, Amy is well known to many across the agricultural industry through her leadership with the Illinois Soybean Association and her involvement with the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), a strategic partner of the Evans Center.

Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the Evans Center as it continues strengthening collaboration and dialogue around agriculture and food systems.

Despite our urban lives, our brains still crave green spaces. ๐ŸŒณ Looking at nature literally signals to our minds that we are safe, calm, and focused. A newer concept called equigenesis suggests that time in nature could be more beneficial for people in disadvantaged communities, in terms of health and functioning.

An Illinois research team analyzed data and found compelling evidence that nature acts as a powerful equalizer for kids' mental health.

From pen pals to dorm roommates ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’™

When ACES alumna Pamela Smith offered to become a pen pal to Finlee, she didn't just share letters; she shared a lifelong mentorship. Fast forward a few years, and Pam brought Finlee to campus for ACES Family Academies! Together, they brewed herbal tea, explored biology labs, tested out meat science, and even conquered the ultimate challenge: moving a lofted dorm mattress to the floor.
