ACES and Illinois 4-H are heading to π„πœπ€πžπ«π­β€™π¬ π‚π’ππžπ« π’π‘πžπ in Belleville on Tuesday, October 20 for an evening of exceptional food, meaningful conversation and a behind-the-scenes look at one of Illinois’ most visited family-owned farms.

Explore the grounds, discover what’s currently in season and learn more about Eckert’s commitment to agritourism. The evening will also feature remarks from ACES NRES faculty member Dr. Joy O’Keefe on what bats reveal about forests, farms and cities, along with an opportunity to learn more about how Illinois 4-H is creating meaningful connections with youth, families and communities.

A career built on science, service, and global impact deserves recognition. An international leader in agribusiness, Gregg BeVier has spent more than 40 years advancing livestock innovation while helping tackle food insecurity across the globe. As COO of STgenetics
and a former leader with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, his work has empowered farmers and strengthened food systems worldwide. He has also remained deeply committed to mentoring students and giving back to the University of Illinois.

Applied fisheries science plays a critical role in how aquatic resources are managed and sustained. Dr. Steven Cooke has built a globally recognized career advancing fisheries science and aquatic conservation. Through his research and leadership, he has helped shape policies, practices, and technologies that support sustainable fisheries and protect aquatic ecosystems. From influencing global fisheries guidance to mentoring the next generation of scientists, his work continues to drive meaningful change.
