MVCC Learning Commons

Building relationships and helping students is what we do best, so make an appointment with a tutor All Learning Commons services are free.

Mohawk Valley Community College provides academic tutoring services through the Learning Commons. There, professional and peer tutors help students in many subject areas, including Reading, Writing, Math, Chemistry, and Biology. The Commons also provides supplemental instruction, which involves informal student study groups targeting assistance in a particular course and/or instructor.

The Math Lab is sponsoring a Math Parody Video Contest — open to all MVCC students!

The idea is simple — take a popular song and change the lyrics to incorporate a mathematical concept or topic, then create a 30- to 45-second parody video. You can participate alone or in a group! Deadline is April 27, 2026. Make sure to stop by the Learning Commons for tips and inspiration!

Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including:
Best Lyrics
Math Tutor Fave

Competition rules:
Videos should be between 30 and 45 seconds and be a popular song parody
The use of technology is allowed
Videos with offensive lyrics or dancing will be removed from the competition
Submissions should be uploaded by April 27 to be considered for awards
Tag the LC and use the hashtag
