Hinds Community College - Utica Campus

The Utica Campus, founded in 1903, has a rich heritage and maintains its HBCU status and traditions.

Utica Junior College was founded in 1903 as Utica Normal and Industrial Institute. It is the oldest of the six campuses of the Hinds Community College District (HCCD). UJC merged with the HCCD in 1982 but retains its Historically Black College & University (HBCU) designation and traditions. The Utica Campus offers students a two-year educational experience comparable to the first two years of a fo

ur-year college. Students are paired with highly-trained professional instructors, small class sizes, and benefit from the close-knit, family atmosphere.

Mr. Jorge Vivar, with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Information Systems Department, was at the Hinds Utica campus today, speaking with students in Dr. Litany Lineberry's Computing and Information Technology Services (ITS) class.

Mr. Vivar shared his knowledge and experiences with our students and helped them connect what they are learning in the classroom to real-world applications.

He also provided laptops for the hands-on activity, giving the students the opportunity to open the laptops, take them apart, examine the internal components, and explore how the technology works, which made the experience both engaging and memorable.

Dr. Litany Linberry’s Computer Science Technology students kick off the semester in the Science and Innovation Center. They are moving full speed ahead, learning how to build a gaming platform in VR!

A day of learning, history, and discovery! More than 104 students from Mr. Frederick Melancon's English classes at Hinds Raymond Campus traveled to Hinds Utica Campus on Tuesday to learn about the campus's rich heritage.

Thanks to Ms. Jean Greene, Co-Director of the Utica Institute Museum, for providing an insightful lesson and tour that brought the campus's storied history to life.

On September 2, 2026, CTE Dean of Instruction Mr. Timothy Crisler and his team took a moment to recognize two outstanding instructors, Ms. Lashunda Davis and Mrs. Monica Davis (not pictured), in celebration of Early Childhood Educators’ Day!

Their dedication, passion, and commitment to preparing the next generation of early childhood educators deserve to be celebrated. Thank you for the meaningful work you do each day!

We’re excited about our collaboration with Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center’s Mobile Clinic, which will be providing services to our students at Hinds CC Utica! 🩺

Services will include routine physical exams, diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, chronic disease management, health education and counseling, and dental services.

The mobile clinic will be available every 3rd Wednesday of the month. We’re excited to bring convenient, quality healthcare directly to our students!
