Raised in Vallejo. Giving back to Vallejo. 💙
Meet Destany Michael, a Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Momhi Scholarship recipient and TUC College of Osteopathic Medicine student. As a first-generation college student and mom of two, Destany is driven by community, access, and lived experience.
She’s already making an impact locally: Supporting harm-reduction outreach with Drug Safe Solano, co-leading menopause education with MenoWell Vallejo, and contributing to Vallejo Late Night Basketball to help create safer community spaces.
Destany plans to practice in Solano County as an OB/GYN, providing compassionate, community-informed care and working to close gaps in maternal and reproductive health for the communities that raised her.
“WOW! This is such a huge surprise and an honor! I greatly
appreciate this support from Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and being from Vallejo, this means so much as I know how much they show up for community members growth and success … this is
very encouraging and motivating!"
Huge thanks to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation for investing in TUC students who are already making a difference in Vallejo!
