Over $1 million and growing! 📈💛

Valpo’s student-run Beacon Fund has reached an exciting milestone, growing 27% in 2025 from $804,247 to $1,022,269, outperforming the S&P 500 by 9.2%!

Through the College of Business Portfolio Practicum, students get hands-on experience researching companies, analyzing industries, making investment recommendations, and working with a real investment fund.

It’s more than learning about finance in the classroom. It’s about putting knowledge into action, building leadership skills, and making decisions grounded in Valpo’s commitment to ethical business.

We’re proud of the students who are putting their education to work and making an impact. 💛

Students in Professor Karbasi’s BAN 470 class recently presented their project to managers from the North American Steel Alliance (NASA), gaining valuable real-world experience in business analytics and professional collaboration. This was a great opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom while building professional presentation and teamwork skills.

Thank you to Deana Lecy, Director of Metals Programs, and Ryan Thomas, Membership Manager, for joining us and supporting our students’ work.

Presenters included Peyton Ruscitti (Captain), Josh Cronin, Benzi Corrales, Alex Feeley, Mackenzie Gallagher, Joey Perkins, and Brett Wietelmann.
