Penn State College of Health and Human Development is the nation’s No. 1 school of allied health in terms of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding ⭐

Penn State HHD was awarded more than $29.5 million in research dollars from the National Institutes of Health in 2025.

“In recent years, Penn State as a whole has achieved record-breaking research expenditures. This ranking is further evidence that our sponsors have confidence in the research that we're doing, that we're doing it well and that it makes a difference in people’s lives," said Andrew Read, senior vice president for research at Penn State.

The college comprises eight departments -- biobehavioral health; communication sciences and disorders; health policy and administration; human development and family studies; kinesiology; nutritional sciences; recreation, park, and tourism management; and the School of Hospitality Management.

So very sad!

So very sad!

Our deepest condolences go out to Michele Sebastianelli & the entire family over the passing of their beloved Wayne.

It was just over a year ago that Wayne & Michelle made a massive donation to Penn State health matching every $10,000 gift to help future doctors/surgeons. His generosity matched his medical expertise.

My dear friend Sally had an appointment scheduled with him this morning. She could not believe the news. Like all of us, she considered Dr Sebastianelli a friend.

Joke around a lot on here about Lackawanna County in NEPA being the academic/cultural/sports hub of PA. Dr Sebastianelli epitomized that. He was proud of his Jessup roots. He loved our alma mater: Valley View HS in Archbald. He loved Penn State.

If you can name an injured Nittany Lion athlete over the past three decades +, Sebastianelli worked on him/her. From the paralysis of Adam Taliaferro to every banged-up wrestler from Nick Suriano to Josh Barr to Joe Paterno. Once told JoePa he was not allowed to be on the sideline vs Temple. Every era. Every sport. A highly-respected private practice. I saw him last working on Jalen Pickett’ ailing leg a few years back in the bowels of the BJC.

Dr Wayne Sebastianelli was just 68 years old. 🙏🏽
