The presidential inauguration of Valpo's 20th president – Rev. Brian E. Konkol, Ph.D. – is almost here! Friends, family, students, staff, alumni, and all members of our community are welcome to celebrate this milestone with us on Friday, September 25, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University.

Right after the ceremony, we'll all head to the Harre Union West Lawn for a Community Celebration — featuring a complimentary dinner, complete with classic Valpo fellowship, lawn games, and fireworks at dusk

Popcorn Fest is almost here, and we're popping with excitement 🍿 Valparaiso University is proud to help sponsor this year's 47th annual Valparaiso Popcorn Festival – a beloved community tradition – on Saturday, September 12, in downtown Valpo.

Grab your friends and head downtown for the Popcorn Parade at 10 a.m., then spend the day exploring 340+ vendors, enjoying live music in Central Park Plaza, and having a kernel of fun at the Ultimate Poppin' Play Zone. Festival hours run 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., with fun for all ages!

Now that our newest students are moved in and making themselves at home, we’re excited to give you a peek inside the newly renovated rooms in Wehrenberg Hall and Brandt Hall!

Students are starting the year with refreshed spaces that include air conditioning, new paint and flooring, updated lounges and hallways, and renovated bathrooms on each floor — all designed to make campus feel a little more comfortable, welcoming, and like home.

And there’s still more to come! The space connecting Wehrenberg and Brandt Halls — the future Rotunda at the heart of the Freshman Village — remains under construction. When it opens later this fall, it will give first-year students even more space to gather, study, hang out, and build community together.

For now, take a look around at what’s already new. We can’t wait to show you the finished Freshman Village later this fall!

There’s a new way for Valpo students to turn curiosity about the world into work that can make a real difference!

Beginning in fall 2027, Valparaiso University will offer a new bachelor of science in geospatial science, preparing students to use data from satellites, drones, surveys, and geographic information systems to help communities tackle challenges in areas like emergency management, urban planning, environmental protection, public health, and more.

Valpo will also be the only university in Indiana offering this bachelor of science degree — giving students another exciting path to build practical skills, explore meaningful careers, and put their knowledge to work for others.
