The Special Collection Services Department of the Christopher Center for Library and Information Resources includes the University Archives, the Valparaiso University rare book collection, and special collections that support the University's dedication to excellence, grounded in the Lutheran tradition of scholarship, freedom, and faith. This prepares students to lead and serve in both church and

society. Special Collections strives to provide an active learning environment in which students can learn to identify, evaluate, and use information resources, and in which researchers from other institutions and the community in general also have access to the collections.
