🎶 In the immortal words of Taylor Swift...

"You need to calm down."

Stress is at an all-time high. 😬😫🤬
And, you're probably so used to running hot that you don't even realize just how wound up you are.

Today, I'm helping you get regulated with a simple grounding exercise.

And I HIGHLY recommend that you do this every day.
It doesn't take long.
I just brings you to the present, helps you focus, calms your brain.

AND, jurors need you to help THEM calm down.
Or they'll miss out on learning from you.
No matter how great your case is.
Or how good you are at presenting.

Just hold your horses. 🏇
🤫 Pipe down.

You're missing absolute GOLD when you don't allow enough silence in jury selection or in depos.🌟

You're stepping into the space they're using to think and preventing the opportunity to expound, explain, clarify, or even...backtrack.

Today's episode of the Foster Your Voice Podcast challenges your comfort with SILENCE and makes you look at it as strategy instead of dead time.

Use breath to reset after objections.

Objections spike your adrenaline—fast. 📈

Your instinct is to react, rush, or tighten.
That’s where your voice betrays you and your credibility can slip (along with your confidence).

One intentional breath interrupts that pattern. It...
✔️ steadies your voice.
✔️ resets your pacing.
✔️ keeps you in control.

You don’t need to react faster.
You need to reset better. (🎤+ 🔽)

Tap ❤️ if you're going to BREATHE the next time you hear "objection!" from the next table over.

DON'T TAKE THE BAIT!

Don't let their antics throw off your rhythm, or make you feel less in control.

🔁 Repeat key ideas in varied ways with varied methods.

Jurors don’t just need to hear it...
They need to RECOGNIZE it.

Repetition builds memory—but repetition with variety builds understanding.

📌 Say it again differently.
📌 Show it visually.
📌 Anchor it emotionally.

Each pass strengthens the signal.
Each variation makes it stick.

Tap ❤️. Then tap SAVE. Then tap SHARE.
That's you practicing different methods for helping something stick.

Conversation includes listening, investing in the other person, asking follow up questions, and sincerely interacting with their train of thought.

When you can master the "art of conversation" I think you'll be surprised what jurors will offer up, and the richness of sharing you'll get in the group.

Do you ever find yourself in dual monologues?

If you're keep your jury stuck in monologue silos, you're missing out on group-think GOLD!

The Silo Approach = question, answer, next person question, answer...

It's an interrogation model and not a true conversation.

Conversations include:
listening
investing in the other person
asking follow up questions
sincerely interacting with their train of thought.

When you can master the "art of conversation" I think you'll be surprised what jurors will offer up, and the richness of sharing you'll get in the group.

'Cause jurors don’t open up in environments that feel transactional.
They open up when they feel heard.

LIKE this post if you're going to play around with this in your next voir dire.
