A California Lutheran University Event -
There has been silence in the halls of academia regarding the revival of representational art in the new millenniu
m, manifested in the establishment of numerous atelier schools in every major city in the United States. The success of the ateliers indicates the depth of interest in realism, figurative art and traditional studio practices that has flourished without academic comment. Representational Art in the 21st Century, presented by California Lutheran University, seeks to correct that lack by offering three days of lively discussion in the gorgeous, seaside city of Ventura, California, including studio art demonstration by prominent artists, academic papers, panel discussions and keynote speakers, bringing together thought leaders and artists who share an interest in the revival of the traditional studio techniques of sculpture, painting and drawing media.
