👂💙 Hearing Testing Season is officially underway! 💙👂

Our 2026 Hearing Testing Crew kicked things off at Discovery School!

Last year, Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma helped provide hearing screenings to more than 9,000 kids in our community — and we’re ready to do it all over again! 🙌

This is Sertoma in action. Our members show up, volunteer their time, and help make sure thousands of local kids have access to hearing screenings each year.

We’re pretty proud of this crew and even prouder of what Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma continues to do for our community! 💙

Here’s to another 9,000+ kids in 2026! 👂🎉

👶👂 Let’s talk newborn hearing screening!

Some babies with hearing loss seem to respond to loud sounds but still miss important speech and softer noises. That’s why a quick, painless newborn hearing screen is so important—it helps identify hearing concerns before 3 months of age, giving families time to connect with resources and support early communication.

Early hearing screening can make a lifelong difference in communication and development.

NEW! ASTra Webinar Coming Soon: The Role of the Educational Audiologist

If your child is Deaf or hard of hearing, you may have heard the term educational audiologist—but what exactly do they do, and how is their role different from a clinical audiologist, Teacher of the Deaf (TOD), or speech-language pathologist (SLP)?
Join ASTra for a practical conversation about how educational audiologists help students access instruction and participate fully in the classroom. We’ll explore assessment beyond the audiogram, hearing assistive technology, collaboration with the school team, and what families can do when their district doesn’t have an educational audiologist on staff.

📅 September 29, 2026
🕚 11:00 AM–12:00 PM MT (adjust to your time zone)
🎙️ Presenter: Dr. Rachel Parkington, Au.D.

Did you know that infants that spend an extended period of time in the NICU should have their hearing screened regularly?

September officially marks NICU Awareness Month 💚

We’re celebrating the tiny fighters, their families, and the amazing NICU teams who support them. Every milestone matters! 👣✨

Happy National Deaf Awareness Month! September is a time to celebrate Deaf culture, language, and community. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn, spread awareness, and better understand the barriers many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people face. By learning, listening, and including others, we can help break down barriers and create a more welcoming, inclusive, and connected community for everyone.
