Indian River State College culinary students took a field trip to learn more about commercial food distribution centers and how they function as well as a few stops in West Palm Beach to see a small but very busy Mediterranean bakery & market and then a large international supermarket called The Mango Tree.

Special thanks to Tony the warehouse manager for taking us on a thorough tour from dry stock, cold and frozen foods and truck sanitation and pallet wrapping. Also great seeing the test kitchen and meeting Executive Corporate Chef Marco Pilloni who explained a lot about menu concept and remenuing services.

Culinary, Hospitality and Restaurant Management students combined forces to create a special event for their families and friends on April 16. The event was a dinner buffet with an evening under the stars.

Students learned the importance of advanced planning, communication, teamwork and how to overcome obstacles to ensure their guest had a great experience and the event stayed on time.

What a great day hosting SLW Centennial High School at Indian River State College’s School of Hospitality and Culinary.

Students prepared Vietnamese and Thai dishes to include Vietnamese coffee (watch out Starbucks). Tom Yum soup, pork rice paper spring rolls, build your own bahn mi and banana tapioca with pandan. Truly enjoyable interacting with this amazing group of superstars.

They even got to reconnect with SLW and now Indian River State College Culinary Management student Jonathan Satey who volunteered to run the lab.

Fun day with a student photo shoot. The culinary, hospitality and restaurant management students had fun and looked sharp. Here are a few rehearsal pics and behind the scenes smiles.

We even got to get the photographer James Crocco on the other side of the lens. Shout out to Luisa who didnt make the pic!

Professional pics coming soon!

Special thanks for Quail Valley Country Club for allowing us to take some picture at the gorgeous Quail Valley The Point property. Austin and Chef Faria thank you for coordinating things on site. Your team is stellar!
