Last week, community and business leaders from across Northern Kentucky joined us at Gateway Community & Technical College for the latest KCTCS for Kentucky Tour. These discussions are critical as we continue listening, learning, and working together to ensure KCTCS is meeting the needs of students, employers, and communities across every region of the commonwealth. Thank you to Gateway President Dr. Fernando Figueroa and the entire Gateway team for hosting a great event and helping bring together partners committed to strengthening Kentucky’s future.

Yesterday, we were proud to present Rep. Josh Bray with a KCTCS Champion Award in recognition of his strong support for Kentucky’s 16 community and technical colleges. As the author of HB 619, Rep. Bray helped lead important reform legislation that will strengthen and shape the future of KCTCS for decades to come. We’re grateful for his partnership and vision as we continue preparing Kentuckians for what’s next.

Last night, I had the opportunity to appear on KET and highlight the transformative work happening across KCTCS and our 16 colleges. It was a privilege to share the stories of our students, faculty, and staff and discuss the life-changing impact community and technical education is making across the commonwealth.

This week, the KCTCS Annual Conference was held in Lexington and hosted by Bluegrass Community and Technical College. It was an incredible opportunity to celebrate a historic year for KCTCS, recognize the outstanding work of our faculty and staff, invest in professional development, and align around our shared goals for the year ahead.

One of the most powerful parts of the conference was hearing directly from our students. Their stories are a reminder of the life-changing impact our colleges have across Kentucky and the important role KCTCS plays in creating opportunity, strengthening communities, and preparing the Commonwealth’s workforce for what’s next.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize such a meaningful and successful event.

Exciting news for Somerset Community College nursing students and Kentucky’s healthcare workforce.

Through a new partnership with Lindsey Wilson University, SCC students will now have an even more seamless pathway to continue their education and advance their careers in nursing.

This collaboration is about meeting students where they are, supporting working nurses, and creating stronger pathways to opportunity while helping address healthcare workforce needs across the commonwealth.

Congratulations to Lukas Stevens on completing the Industrial Technology Enhanced Credentials (ITEC) program through Owensboro Workforce Solutions.

Through dedication and hard work, Lukas completed training in fluid power, industrial equipment maintenance, electrical systems, robotics, motor controls, and programmable logic controllers while balancing the demands of working full-time.

Programs like ITEC are helping prepare Kentucky’s workforce for high-demand industries by providing flexible, hands-on training that leads to valuable credentials and real-world experience.

Congratulations, Lukas, on this outstanding accomplishment and the bright future ahead!

It was great to spend time yesterday advocating for the priorities that matter most to Kentucky students and communities. Thank you to Congressman Barr for the opportunity to meet with House Education & Workforce Chairman Tim Walberg and discuss the importance of strengthening access to education and workforce opportunities.

I was proud to advocate for continued support of Pell Grants, TRIO, and other critical higher education priorities with Kentucky’s delegation, including Sen. McConnell, Rep. Barr, Rep. McGarvey, Rep. Guthrie, Rep. Massie, and Dean Rogers, and I’m looking forward to continuing those conversations today with Rep. Comer and Sen. Paul as we work together to expand opportunity and strengthen Kentucky’s future.

Radiology students from Somerset Community College are preparing for careers in healthcare and already making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Through a campus bake sale, these 2026 graduates raised $300 to support patients at the Lake Cumberland Cancer Treatment Center by providing gift cards to help cover everyday essentials like food and gas during treatment.

Their actions reflect what it means to lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and strengthen our communities both inside and outside the classroom.

We are so of our Radiography Student Organization (RSO) 2026 graduates 👏

These students hosted a campus bake sale and raised $300 to donate to the Lake Cumberland Cancer Treatment Center. The funds were used to purchase gift cards for patients to help with everyday needs like food and gas while undergoing treatment.

A great example of students making an impact both inside and outside the classroom 💙
