Today, Victoria ISD honors and celebrates the hard work and dedication of workers across our community and nation.

As a reminder, all Victoria ISD schools and district offices are closed today, Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Normal school and business operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday. ❤️💙

Grandparents Day Parade is just around the corner!

We are excited to host Schorlemmer’s 1st Annual Grandparents Day Parade on Friday, September 11, from 8:45–9:15 a.m.! We can’t wait to celebrate the wonderful grandparents who are such a special part of our Bear family!

Grandparents are invited to decorate their vehicles, make signs, and show their Bear spirit as they follow our parade route around the school. Our students will be lined up along the route, ready to wave, cheer, and celebrate their grandparents as they drive by!

Please do not begin lining up before 8:15 a.m. We look forward to making our first Grandparents Day Parade a special memory for our Bears and their families! 🐻❤️

📍 Tickets can be purchased at the front office starting Thursday, September 3rd through September 15th, or you can purchase them at Open House from 5:00pm- 6:30pm.

We’re starting the year STRONG! Our August attendance rate was 97.15%, putting us above our campus goal of 95%! 🎉

A HUGE shout-out to Kindergarten, who led the way with an incredible 98.32% attendance rate! 🏆 Way to go, Kinder Bears!

As we celebrate, we also want to keep our focus on making every minute of every school day count. During August, we had:
📚 160 absences
⏰ 93 tardies
🚗 170 early checkouts

Every absence, tardy, and early checkout means valuable instructional time missed. Please help us keep our Bears learning by making sure students are at school every day, arrive on time, and stay for the entire school day whenever possible.

❤️🐻 97.15% is a GREAT start, now let’s keep climbing! Together, we can make September even better!

✏️ CALLING ALL 4TH & 5TH GRADE WRITERS

It is time for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Trailblazer Committee’s 7th Annual Writing Competition!

This year’s theme is “The Lost Star of Texas,” and we want to get as many 4th and 5th graders as possible writing, creating, and sharing their Texas-sized imaginations!

Students can submit an essay, a poem, or both. Spanish entries are welcome!

⚾🐻 ATTENDANCE HAS ITS PERKS! 🐾⚾

We have an exciting September Attendance Challenge for our Bears!

Students who are at school every day, arrive on time, and stay for the entire school day will earn an invitation to a special A&M–Victoria Jaguar Baseball Meet & Greet on September 25th!

Qualifying students will get the opportunity to meet the players, talk with them, get autographs, and spend some time with the Jaguar Baseball team! ⚾🐆

*Students who have an early checkout with a doctor’s note will still qualify.

We are SO excited for our 1st Annual Grandparents Day Parade! 🚗

Grandparents, decorate your vehicle, make a fun sign, and get ready to parade around campus while your grandchildren cheer you on! 🥰 Our Bears can’t wait to see you!

Please check out the attached flyer and parade route map for all the details. We kindly ask that vehicles do not begin lining up before 8:15 AM.

And while we have your attention, mark your calendars for Open House on September 15 from 5:00–6:30 PM. We’d love for you to come meet your grandchild’s teacher and visit our campus!
