Emma Bertsch ’26, editor-in-chief of the Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal, shared her advice for the incoming Villanova Law class:
“I’m a big tennis fan, and at Wimbledon’s Centre Court is a quote that reads, ‘If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster / And treat those two imposters just the same.’ In an environment like law school, where pressure is a constant, and there’s always another accomplishment you’re working towards, it is a helpful and important reminder that neither success nor failure should define you, because both are fleeting compared to the person you become in the process.”

Associate Professor Luke Repici received the 2026 Villanova University Lafferty Award. This student-nominated award recognizes University faculty members who have made a distinctive and lasting contribution to enhancing the quality of the student experience by engaging with students in significant ways outside a traditional teaching or research relationship and beyond their formal advising duties.

Last month, Caroline Gozzard ’27 competed as a finalist at the annual Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Trial Advocacy Academy Mock Trial Competition. For the competition, local second- and third-year law students prosecuted a fictitious murder case based on prior trial examples and evidence. Students participated in training sessions throughout February, during which Deputy District Attorneys and Assistant District Attorneys led instruction on a range of trial-related topics, including how to present opening and closing remarks and prepare for cross-examinations.
