Congratulations to all who were recognized during our Commencement ceremonies for their leadership, service, scholarship, and lasting impact 🎓✨

This year’s honorees included faculty members Gavin Pate, recipient of the Samuel Nelson Gray Distinguished Teaching Award; Dr. Elizabeth Malcolm, recipient of the Birdsong Service and Community Engagement Award; Dr. Rebecca Ho**er, recipient of the United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministry Exemplary Teacher Award; and Dr. William McConnell, recipient of the Frank and Jane P. Batten Distinguished Scholar Award.

We also celebrated graduating senior Hannah Gautreaux ’26, who received the General Douglas MacArthur Award for Emerging Leaders and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

The University proudly conferred honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees upon keynote speaker Cliff Fleet and educator and civic leader Cecelia T. Tucker, whose degree was accepted posthumously by her daughter, Dr. Kelly J. Tucker.

We are proud to honor their accomplishments and the lasting impact they have made on campus and beyond!

Congratulations to the 156 students on the President’s List who achieved a 4.0 grade point average for spring 2026, and to the 288 students on the Dean’s List who achieved a 3.5-3.99 grade point average for the spring semester! 📚📑

To qualify for these honors, students must have full-time status and must have taken at least nine semester hours of traditionally graded courses.

We are proud to recognize so many students among the University’s top performers this semester. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to academic excellence have earned this well-deserved distinction. Congratulations, Marlins, on this impressive achievement!

In its first-ever semester, the Marlin Move-Out Project by diverted over 1 ton (2,000 lbs) of reusable items that may have otherwise gone to waste! Marlin Marketplace founder Lily Reslink '26 also received the Marlin Award for Sustainability Advocacy for this project at the 2026 Ryan Environmental Research Symposium. 🌊🌳💙
