For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.

For Mike Van Hoozer (BBA ’88), one decision to attend Baylor set into motion generations of Baylor memories, friendships, and faith-filled purpose. 💚

Arriving from Memphis, Mike quickly found community through fraternity life, intramurals (contributing to a Sigma Chi basketball championship win), and the spiritual mentorship of Louie and Shelley Giglio, whose Bible study would eventually grow into the Passion movement. Baylor became the place where he learned that faith wasn’t separate from life and work, but woven through all of it.

After graduating from Hankamer, Mike met Baylor Board of Regents Chair Bill Mearse at a recruiting event, a connection that led him to begin his career at Accenture. Years later, he would watch his oldest son, Drew, follow in those same footsteps.

One by one, all five Van Hoozer boys chose Baylor, creating years of overlapping memories. Most recently, their youngest son, Grant (BBA '26) graduated, closing a remarkable chapter for this Baylor family.

What began with one young man following God’s prompting became a legacy. 🐻✨

Sic ’Em, Van Hoozers!

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. On this Memorial Day, we pause in gratitude for those who gave everything. 🇺🇸💚

For Mark Lashier and his son, Keenan Lashier (BSME ’16), Baylor is more than a place to earn a degree, it’s where lives, careers, and generations are shaped.

Recently, the father-son duo joined students for a Lunch & Learn conversation on topics ranging from energy and AI to mentorship and career paths. Together, they shared insights from their respective journeys—Mark as Chairman and CEO of Phillips 66, and Keenan as an associate in natural resources investment banking—while encouraging students to stay curious, seek guidance, and think beyond traditional paths.

For Keenan, the moment was full circle. He credits Baylor’s close-knit environment and high expectations with preparing him for success, shaping both his technical skills and personal growth.

The Lashier family’s impact goes beyond time spent on campus. As proud Baylor parents and alumni advocates, Mark and Laurie have established endowed scholarships to support future engineering students, opening doors for others to grow, explore, and thrive.

Through mentorship, generosity, and a shared belief in Baylor’s mission, the Lashiers are helping shape what’s next—one student at a time. 💛

Sic ’Em, Lashiers! 🐻
