One final Zambia post from this year!

We concluded our mission trip with a full-day safari, starting with a VERY EARLY, VERY COLD boat ride!

We are so thankful for every minute of this spectacular mission trip!

Our hearts will never be the same after seeing the amazing sights and sounds of Zambia!

The Baylor Business and Zambia Mission Team started our Friday with a lovely 'Good Morning' in the form of breakfast food from the !

We then headed to the Legacy Center to prepare for the Career Fair! We spent a long time in prayer pouring out our hearts to God and inviting the Holy Spirit to join us in our ministry work to provide jobs for our Zambian brothers and sisters.

We were ecstatic to have SEVEN companies come and interview the students. We give our sincere appreciation to Fortune Foods, Suscon International, Legacy Hotel, The Anita Group of Companies, SMRD Auto Mechanics, 260 Brand and Leania for coming today to interview the Zambians.

Our students did so well, and they were so confident in their interviews! Several students received job offers today, and we are confident more will also in the days to come.

The 260 Brand Company wanted to know when the next career fair would be they were so impressed!

We ask for your continued prayers for students as they wait to hear back from potential employers.

To God be the Glory!

Our team has loved getting to play with the kids that live at the Tree of Life Village at when we are finished with our workshops.

There are over 600 children living at the Tree of Life Village currently and many of them still need sponsors.

We encourage you to visit Family Legacy's website to learn about child sponsorship: https://familylegacy.com/getinvolved/sponsor-a-child/ !

Your gift can make a profound impact on not only their life, but on your heart as well! We know our hearts have been forever impacted by our time spent with these children.

Our career workshops with the Zambian students are the focus of our mission trip. We have been blessed to work with 84 students in the Excel Beyond Program with this week.

Our workshops have focused on both personal and professional growth sessions and career planning as well as sessions on creating a business.

The bible verse that is the foundation of our workbook is Philippians 1:6: "He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus."

We ask for your prayers for these students as they prepare for a job fair on Friday with several local employers!

One of the highlights of our mission trip is meeting with local businessman Charl Marais from Suscon Construction Solutions Limited.

Charl always makes time to share with our students his incredible international business knowledge interwoven with his Christian faith. Fun fact: Charl is married to a Baylor grad!

This year we also met his friend Robert Bernatzeder who is a new entrepreneur in Lusaka.

Both Charl and Robert grew up in South Africa but have moved to Zambia to start their businesses due to a more flexible government and greater opportunities.

We are truly grateful for the time they spent with us, the knowledge they shared with us about their international business experiences was invaluable.

Wow! What a day for this team!

We started our day in a setting we are very comfortable with as HSB students - at a business breakfast meeting with local Zambian business men and women. They shared valuable information about Zambian business culture, faith in the workplace, and the importance of education. We are eager to share these lessons with the Excel Beyond students this week.

We ended our day at the Tree of Life Village on Family Legacy Property visiting with many of the younger children who live there. This was truly a first of its kind experience for most of the team. The children we engaged with could not be more joyful even though they truly have so very little. Our team was deeply moved by this experience and our hearts are truly being broken for the Zambian children.

We were so impressed that the Tree of Life Village cares for not only the physical and academic needs of the children, but also their mental and spiritual needs!

We were blessed with a beautiful Zambian sunset during dinner tonight and are eager to worship with our new friends tomorrow at church in the morning!

We made it to Lusaka!!! We are so happy to be “in-country” after a day and a half of traveling. We realized upon arrival that it had been more than 24 hours since we had seen sunlight!!

We started our day learning about Zambian currency and exchange rates as we all exchanged our US dollars for Zambian Kwacha. Ethel was a math whiz helping us - we were super impressed with her calculations and speed.

We arrived at our hotel around 11 and were hoping for a quick shower but only 1 room was ready so instead all 8 of the ladies just opted for a quick change of clothes in that one room in a fairly short time. The guys opted to just keep on going with the clothes they had been wearing the past three days.

Our first stop was a wonderful taco restaurant called Cantina. We’ve only been out of Texas two days but nachos & tacos were a fun reminder of home!

We then headed to Bauleni Legacy Academy and met with Charles - the head teacher. We toured various parts of the school such as the library, classrooms, and trade center. We met with several students and teachers and learned a lot about their schools and trade programs.

We ended our day with hot showers, a yummy dinner at our hotel with live Zambian music and a devotion focused on the truth that God is more concerned that we are becoming more Christ-like than He is about our daily challenges and frustrations.

Please keep praying for our team, we appreciate it!!
