Brandeis 75th Anniversary Moment #37:
In 1968, the Transitional Year Program (now the Myra Kraft Achievers Program) was launched at Brandeis.
The program admits mostly students who have not had access to a complete and rigorous college-level course schedule, who have experienced interruptions in their secondary education, or have followed some other non-traditional path to their pursuit of higher education. The program helps students transition to this new experience through a combination of small classes, rigorous academics and a strong support system. It historically served Black students, but also helps others such as refugees and low income students. There are currently over 1,000 program alumni.
In this 1974 photo you see several TYP students working on a project together in the dorms!
