Brandeis University Family Weekend

Brandeis University Family Weekend Nothing beats fall in New England — except fall at Brandeis! For over 65 years, students have come to Brandeis to learn, become leaders, and make their mark.

Family Weekend invites family and friends into the Brandeis community to learn more about what we offer. You don't want to miss the exciting opportunity to spend quality time with family while getting a taste of the Brandeis experience!

Join Professor Sabine von Mering on Tuesday, October 13 from 8-9pm EST. The Paris Agreement is a non-binding agreement, but the European Union has binding treaties that mandate carbon reduction among its member states to address the climate crisis. Scandinavian countries are leading the way, but Germany as the world’s fifth largest economy has received the most attention for its climate action plans. Both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her longtime cabinet member and now European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are Conservatives. Germany currently holds the EU Presidency and has put climate action high on the priority list. In this lecture we will take a look at how Germany and Europe got to where they are, what they have achieved, what obstacles they still face, and how the United States could become a major player in the fight against climate change again if we rejoined the Paris Agreement in January 2021.
