UDR Roles & Responsibilities
UDRs are Peer Advisors who:
• Provide academic and career information to majors/minors and prospective students.
• Conduct individual sessions with students and/or group informational sessions on a variety of topics, for example, outside speakers in a field, alumni/career panel, internship and research opportunities.
• Contribute to a newsletter/website and/or aid in disseminating information on current events, activities or any other relevant happenings in your department/program.
• Serve as ambassadors for the Department/Program at special events.

All UDRs, regardless of major or minor, have the following responsibilities:
1) Serve as a resource and representative for fellow majors and minors and potential majors/minors.

2) Elicit feedback from students about concerns and ideas, and then provide the feedback to the department/program chair, undergraduate advising head, and faculty, notably scheduling problems, course offerings, and major/minor requirements.

3) Take an active and leadership role in convening majors/minors in your department for social, career exploration and/or department specific reasons. For example, initiate focus groups for student feedback, organize coffee houses, or for more ideas, see the on-line UDR Handbook (www.brandeis.edu/das/programs/udr).

4) Try to attend a portion of one department or program meeting to discuss undergraduate issues. The amount of meeting time will vary per department or program and should be discussed with your department/program chair.

5) Execute at least two programs or initiatives each semester. These initiatives can include providing peer advising/mentoring, organizing an alumni career panel, an internship panel, participating in a faculty search for your majors, etc. See UDR Handbook for more options.

6) Represent your department in such university-wide events as Admitted Students Day, Fall Preview Days, Academic Fair and Advising, and the Fall Majors Fair.

7) Report each initiative as you complete it using the on-line form found on the Brandeis UDR home page: https://brandeis.wufoo.com/forms/pgnexoc0ix4rpe/ https://brandeis.wufoo.com/forms/pgnexoc0ix4rpe/

8) Respond when requested to fill out the fall and spring mid-term assessment surveys.

9) Other responsibilities decided upon by individual UDRs and their department or program.

Miss Israel Linor Abargil was abducted, stabbed, and r***d in Milan, Italy, at age 18. She had to represent her country in the Miss World competition only six weeks later. When to her shock she was crowned the winner, she vowed to do something about r**e. The film follows her from the r**e, to her crowning and through her crusade to fight for justice and break the silence. During her travels to speak out and meet with other r**e victims, her own trauma begins to resurface. Her serial ra**st becomes eligible for parole, and she has to hunt down his previous victims in order to help keep him behind bars. The film explores the trauma of sexual assault through one young woman’s journey from teenage r**e victim to Miss World to empowered lawyer and activist.

Following the film, Brave Miss World Linor Abargil herself will be speaking.
