Brandeis Neuroscience Club The Brandeis Neuro Club works with Brandeis professors (and guests) to get students excited about everything that's happening in neuroscience today! So have we.

The brain is a mystery to most of us, but it doesn't have to be. The Brandeis Neuroscience Club is here to connect you to some of the leading figures in neuroscience today, by organizing lectures and events with professors and researchers here at Brandeis, as well as with guest speakers from all around the Boston area. Have you ever had a thought? Have you ever marveled at how incredible it is tha

t you're awake, and conscious of the world around you? Have you ever wondered what exactly is going on behind your eyes that lets you be, well, yourself? Let's figure it out together.

ALS is an extremely debilitating neurodegenerative disease characterized by muscle atrophy and eventual total paralysis. It's very difficult to live with for the patient and for his/her loved ones, as cognition is left in tact. Professor Eve Marder gives a powerful lecture on this topic in Principles of Neuroscience.

Brandeis Neuroscience Club would like to say that we LOVE the amount of awareness the Ice Bucket Challenge has created for ALS. We hope you will continue to spread the word and raise money for ALS research. Let's bring an end to it together!

Hey Neuro lovers! We're getting ready for another neuro-filled semester, are you?

Check out this clip to see how our favorite late night drink affects our brains.

Take a look at the science behind the world's most popular drug, including why caffeine keeps us awake and just how much of the drug is too much.

Who among us hasn’t come back from a shopping excursion, looked over the just-purchased haul, and wondered, What was I thinking? Fun fact: While awake, the human brain is capable of generating enough energy to power a light bulb (up to 23 watts).

Fun fact: The brain of an average 20-year-old man contains around 109,000 miles (or 176,000 km) of myelinated axons. That's enough to wrap around Earth, at the equator, 4.5 times.
