The Valley of Atlanta welcomed Deputy of the Supreme Council Ben Polston, II, 33°, at its May Communication with a memorable Tunnel of Steel — a powerful expression of fellowship and respect.
The evening was made even more meaningful as the Valley also welcomed many of its newest members back for their first Communication as Scottish Rite Masons. Their presence served as an important reminder that growth is not only about bringing new men into the Rite, but about creating meaningful experiences that build lasting engagement, fellowship, and participation from the very beginning.
During the evening, Orient Director of Work Russ Hazelwood, 32° KCCH, reminded the Brethren that ritual is the cornerstone of what we do. His remarks reinforced the importance of ritual excellence in preserving the dignity, meaning, and transformative experience that define the Scottish Rite experience.
Deputy Polston shared his vision and mission for the Orient of Georgia, focused on strengthening our Valleys, growing participation, developing leaders, and increasing the public understanding of the Scottish Rite and its charitable impact. He emphasized that strong Valleys are built through engaged members, visible leadership, fellowship, and a shared commitment to the future of the Rite.
The evening carried special meaning as the Valley of Atlanta — Deputy Polston’s home Valley — welcomed one of its own into this important role. It was a powerful reflection of the unity, pride, and momentum shaping the future of the Scottish Rite in Georgia.
