225 years. One Rite. One purpose.

On May 25, 1801, Col. John Mitchell conferred the 33° on Rev. Frederick Dalcho in Charleston. That moment established the Supreme Council and set the course for the Scottish Rite across this nation.

Mitchell became the first Sovereign Grand Commander. Dalcho served as first Lieutenant Grand Commander and later as the second Sovereign Grand Commander, leading from 1816–1822.

Today, across six Valleys in Georgia, we carry that legacy forward. We are not a historical society. We are a living, working Masonic body dedicated to human progress, principled leadership, and charitable impact.

The founders believed in the power of education, fellowship, and service. So do we. Every degree conferred, every leader developed, every life changed through RiteCare—that is the Rite in action. That is why we exist.

On this 225th anniversary, we honor the vision that brought us here. And we recommit to the mission that drives us forward: strengthening our Valleys, developing informed leaders, sustaining RiteCare's reach, and proving through visible action that Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth still matter.

The Supreme Council was founded on a principle: that Freemasonry has work to do in the world.

We still believe that.

Watch this moment. A child finds his voice. A clinician shows him he can say it. A word becomes possible.
This is RiteCare in action. For nearly a decade, Scottish Rite Masons across Georgia have supported speech and language clinics that help children overcome communication barriers—at no cost to families in need.

10,000 children last year. Real progress. Real hope.

If your child needs speech support, visit gascottishrite.org/ritecare to find a clinic near you.
In giving a child the power to speak, we unlock the promise of their whole life.

Dignity in Honest Labor

In the 22nd Degree, we honor the workers who built the great temples of antiquity. Their craft, their care, their unwavering commitment to honest labor became part of something greater than themselves.

This principle transcends stone and mortar. Every task undertaken with integrity, whether in your profession or your daily obligations, adds to the weight of human dignity. The shortcut diminishes not just the work, but the worker.

Today, ask yourself: Am I bringing my full self to this labor? Where am I tempted to settle for less than honest effort? Dignity begins with the choice.

Congratulations to the Valley of Savannah on a successful Spring Reunion and the addition of 18 new Scottish Rite Masons today.

Deputy of the Supreme Council Ben Polston, 33°, was in attendance to support the Valley and celebrate this important milestone alongside the Brothers of Savannah.

Reunions remain one of the most meaningful expressions of our Rite—bringing good men together through fellowship, education, and shared purpose while strengthening the future of Scottish Rite Masonry in Georgia.

Thank you to the leadership, degree teams, and members of the Valley of Savannah for the work, dedication, and hospitality that made this day possible. We look forward to seeing these new Brothers continue their journey in the Scottish Rite.

The Valley of Atlanta welcomed Deputy of the Supreme Council Ben Polston, II, 33°, at its May Communication with a memorable Tunnel of Steel — a powerful expression of fellowship and respect.

The evening was made even more meaningful as the Valley also welcomed many of its newest members back for their first Communication as Scottish Rite Masons. Their presence served as an important reminder that growth is not only about bringing new men into the Rite, but about creating meaningful experiences that build lasting engagement, fellowship, and participation from the very beginning.

During the evening, Orient Director of Work Russ Hazelwood, 32° KCCH, reminded the Brethren that ritual is the cornerstone of what we do. His remarks reinforced the importance of ritual excellence in preserving the dignity, meaning, and transformative experience that define the Scottish Rite experience.

Deputy Polston shared his vision and mission for the Orient of Georgia, focused on strengthening our Valleys, growing participation, developing leaders, and increasing the public understanding of the Scottish Rite and its charitable impact. He emphasized that strong Valleys are built through engaged members, visible leadership, fellowship, and a shared commitment to the future of the Rite.

The evening carried special meaning as the Valley of Atlanta — Deputy Polston’s home Valley — welcomed one of its own into this important role. It was a powerful reflection of the unity, pride, and momentum shaping the future of the Scottish Rite in Georgia.
