NEW FACULTY ANNOUNCEMENT!
We are so excited to welcome Dr. Kacey Kennedy in the fall as our new Assistant Professor of Music Education/Assoc. Director of Choral Activities!
Dr. Kacey Kennedy is a teacher educator, conductor and researcher dedicated to preservice music education and music literacy pedagogy. She holds a PhD in Music Education from the University of Missouri where she specialized in vocal music education and music literacy instruction. She also holds a Master of Music Education from Central Methodist University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Culver-Stockton College. Her extensive professional background is defined by its breadth, encompassing nearly a decade of public school teaching in the Wentzville School District—where she taught everything from elementary general music to advanced choirs—alongside leadership roles at both the secondary and collegiate levels. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Troy Buchanan High School and previously led the choral program at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.
Dr. Kennedy’s primary research areas include music literacy and music literacy instruction, preservice teacher education, and preservice and public school curriculum development with additional interests in community-building and popular music education. She has published research related to these areas of interest in the Journal of Popular Music Education and the Missouri School Music Magazine, and is an active presenter in state, national, and international research settings. Additionally, Dr. Kennedy shares her passion for music and music education through her work as a clinician and adjudicator.
