How do infants play on video chat? In our paper, we characterized the ways that infants play on video chat with their grandparents.

⏳ During longer video chats, infants engaged in more frequent and diverse play.
🗓️ Play was more diverse for older babies, who were also more engaged and initiated more play.
🧸 Play on video chat was similar to in-person play.

Former ELPer, Lucy Neely, led this study from our Grandparenting in the Digital Age study. This is one of two papers in the new issue of Infancy using our video chat data.
