The Georgetown University Gender+ Justice Initiative is a collaborative between Georgetown’s Main Campus, Medical Campus, and Law Center, designed to sponsor and spotlight projects that focus on gender and its intersections.

✨ Join us for the 8th edition of the Gender+ Justice Initiative Research Colloquium!

As G+JI marks 10+ years of advancing interdisciplinary research and dialogue, our signature annual gathering brings together faculty, scholars, and graduate students to engage some of the most urgent questions of gender, racial, economic, and social justice.

This year’s conversations will explore:

⚖️ Reproductive Governance and the Law
📣 Gender-Based Violence, Criminalization and Accountability
🌍 Gender, Power and the Politics of Belonging

We invite you to spend the afternoon with us for critical conversations, new research, and community — followed by a reception.

Last but not least, meet Ilse Ramon, from the 2025-26 cohort of G+JI Fellows! is a master’s student in Cybersecurity Risk Management in the and President of the Georgetown chapter of Women in Cybersecurity ().

Ilse’s research explores the structural, cultural, and social barriers that prevent Mexican women from entering, remaining, and leading in STEM fields. She takes a special look at the impacts of geography, class, ethnicity, and access to education on the role of women in STEM.

Introducting Anna O’Sullivan, one of this year’s G+JI Fellows! is an undergraduate student majoring in International Politics at and is a Undergraduate Research Fellow.

Anna’s research investigates the popular online emergence of the “trad wife aesthetic” and other romanticizations of white conservative femininity and how they contribute to the normalization of racial exclusion and broader cultural turn towards conservatism in the United States.

Meet Erykah Pasha, one of our G+JI Fellows for 2025-26! Erykah is a Ph.D. Student in at . They are interested in community organizing, Black politics, and qualitative methods.

Erykah’s research explores how nonprofit structures can hinder efforts to engage in more oppositional and direct actions, and thus investigates the impact that nonprofit structures have on Black organizations, specifically in their orientation toward service, organizing, and mobilization.

Join G+JI and for a keynote by Loïc Bourdeau, which explores reproductive harm through the lens of narrative medicine.

Dr. Bourdeau is a scholar of French studies and the medical humanities. He is the Associate Dean for Research and Engagement at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, and his keynote will draw on his 2026 book, “Des mots qui touchent. Obstétrique et gynécologie autrement (Words That Matter. Rethinking Ob/Gyn Care).”
