As we prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Steers Center today at the 2025 Real Estate Luminaries Series, we have a very special announcement to make:
Effective today, Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Steers Center for Global Real Estate at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will be renamed the Steers Center for Global Real Assets.
This change reflects the Center’s forward-looking perspective on the evolution of the industry. The traditional boundaries between real estate, infrastructure, and technology are rapidly converging, forming a broader, unified asset class known as real assets. The move to real assets has been ongoing in the institutional real estate space for several years and our ambition is to match the industry evolution so that our students are maximally prepared for their careers after graduation.
The decision to refine the Steers Center’s focus has been in motion since November 2019 when we hosted “Project Skyhook,” a strategic planning conference, where it was identified that the future of the industry lies in real assets. In the time since, the Steers Center and McDonough School of Business have already taken steps to integrate this outlook into our curriculum, most notably with the launch of the first-of-its-kind M.S. in Global Real Assets program in December 2022.
By aligning the Center’s name and mission with the future of the industry, we are reinforcing our commitment to preparing Georgetown students for their careers by providing an elite level of curricular and co-curricular learning.
We look forward to celebrating this new chapter with you at the 2025 Real Estate Luminaries this evening!
