TODAY is also the last day to DROP a course without a grade of "W”. Changes to registrations permitted after September 4th are limited to withdrawals, which will result in a grade of “W.” This grade is not included in your GPA but will remain on your transcript.

Congratulations, Dr. Jones, we look forward to seeing the fruit of this monumental partnership!

We’re proud to welcome Dr. Christopher Michael Jones to The Hip Hop Museum family as our new Director of Education! 🎓🎤

With more than three decades of experience connecting Hip Hop culture, education, community empowerment, and leadership, Dr. Jones brings a unique perspective to this important role. He began his career as a music producer, working with artists including Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., M.O.P, Mic Geronimo, Shaquille O’Neal, Monifah, and SWV. His journey as an educator, professor, author, pastor, and community leader reflects the power of Hip Hop as a tool for learning and transformation.

As Director of Education, Dr. Jones will help shape curricula, exhibitions, public programs, school and community partnerships, and educational initiatives that connect Hip Hop’s history to the world we live in today. His leadership will help ensure the culture becomes a powerful educational resource for the next generation.

As we welcome this new chapter, we also extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. André Benito Mountain for his service, leadership, and contributions to The Hip Hop Museum over the past several years. We appreciate the foundation he helped build and the impact of his work.

We look forward to welcoming our guest preacher on September 6, the Rev. Dr. Kenyatta R. Gilbert. He is dean and professor of homiletics at Howard University School of Divinity.

A nationally recognized scholar on African American preaching, Dean Gilbert is the author of four influential books: "Exodus Preaching: Crafting Sermons about Justice and Hope," "A Pursued Justice: Black Preaching from the Great Migration to Civil Rights," "The Journey and Promise of African American Preaching," and "Just Living: Meditations for Engaging our Life and Times."

Howard University stands in solidarity with the people of Colombia, Nepal and Tibet following the devastating earthquake in Colombia and the glacier collapse and subsequent flooding in Nepal and Tibet.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those whose lives and communities have been affected. We recognize that these tragedies are especially difficult for members of the Howard community with family, friends and loved ones in these regions.

Yesterday, members of our community gathered on The Yard for a vigil to support and comfort one another. We are grateful to all who came together in a moment that reflected the compassion, care and sense of community that define Howard.

To our Colombian, Nepalese and Tibetan students, faculty and staff: Howard University stands with you. Support is available across the University, including counseling and mental health services, pastoral care, international student services, academic support and employee resources.

We encourage our entire University community to continue extending compassion, patience and care to those affected as we stand together with our Colombian, Nepalese and Tibetan communities.

Alumnus Anthony Anderson (B.F.A. ’22) returns to the Mecca to host Howard University’s fifth annual Chadwick A. Boseman Day student showcase on Aug. 28.

The three-day observance, themed “A New Dawn of Purpose,” honors Boseman’s (B.F.A. ’00) legacy through movement, reflection, and student artistry from Aug. 26–28.
