Georgetown Center on Privacy & Technology We are a think tank bridging the gap between the policy and academic worlds on privacy, while training Georgetown Law students to be leaders in the field.

The Center on Privacy & Technology is a think tank that aims to bridge the gap between the policy and academic worlds on privacy. It also trains Georgetown Law students to be leaders in privacy practice, policymaking and advocacy. The Center studies:

-- Proposals to reform foreign intelligence collection and cybersecurity laws.
-- The privacy issues presented by the technologies that digitize our

“offline” selves, including health apps, “wearables,” and biometric identification techniques like facial recognition.
-- The implications of Big Data techniques on civil rights and vulnerable communities. The Center also offers a practicum course to teach students privacy law and basic technology tools while working on the Center’s projects. In collaboration with If/When/How, a team at the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown Law is looking for people to talk to for a research study looking at how the family policing system (often referred to as the “child welfare” or “child protective” system) is getting and using information about certain types of medical care (abortion, attempted abortion, and alleged abortion; pregnancy loss (including miscarriage or stillbirth); and/or gender-affirming care).
If you or someone you know have seen information about these types of events or medical care come up in a CPS case or investigation, we want to speak with you. Contact the team at [email protected]!
