For assistance, contact [email protected] The Department of Military Science (ARMY) offers courses that develop individual and group skills. Our motto is simple: we develop leadership skills for a lifetime! These skills are enhanced through the study of individual leadership development, teamwork, supervision, management, and military principles. All courses stress practical application of

military instruction and the critical role of the United States Army in a modern society and global community. The department offers students elective courses, or the opportunity to become part of two, three, or four year programs. The program develops student proficiency in planning, executing, and assessing complex operations, functioning as a member of a staff, and providing performance feedback to subordinates. Students explore the dynamics of leading in the complex situations of current military operations in the contemporary operating environment (COE). Students will examine differences in customs and courtesies, military law, principles of war, and rules of engagement in the face of international terrorism. Students also explore aspects of interacting with non-government organizations, civilians on the battlefield, and host nation support. The completion of these programs results in the students being awarded a Second Lieutenant Commission. Options include Active, Reserves, and Army National Guard assignments. The Department of Military Science does not offer a major. We now offer a military science minor. POSTING GUIDELINES:

Meet the Bison Battalion’s newest Second Lieutenants. One week ago, these fourteen men and women proudly pinned on their gold bars, joining the honored lineage of Army officers commissioned through Howard University—the prestigious HBCU known worldwide as “The Mecca.”

As members of the Class of 2026, they now take their place in a historic tradition of leadership, service, and excellence forged through scholarship, discipline, and commitment to something greater than themselves. Their commissioning represents not only a personal milestone, but the continuation of a legacy that has shaped generations of leaders in uniform and beyond.

Join the Cadre, Staff, families, and supporters of the Bison Battalion as we celebrate this remarkable achievement and honor the future officers who now step forward to lead with purpose and distinction.

The Bison Battalion Military Ball was held on Saturday, May 2nd in the Blackburn Center. Many memories are held in this historic location as heard by our very own MG (Ret) Michael T. Harrison. Thank you, General Harrison for the words of wisdom and continued support to the HU Army ROTC program! We also had among our special guests MG Antoinette Gant, Commanding General of the National Capital Region and US Army Military District of Washington.
