Georgetown University is home to a new effort to advance understanding of Catholic Social Thought and its importance for public affairs. The Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life promotes the education of a new generation of Catholic lay leaders and engage a broad dialogue about Catholic Social Thought across wide range of contemporary policy challenges. Through education and outre

• Promote knowledge and dialogue about Catholic social teaching as it relates to critical economic, social, and political issues in the United States and the world.

• Prepare students, community leaders, and public officials for affirmative engagement in public life and advance a principled and consistent version of Catholic lay leadership in politics and society.

• Engage religious leaders and public officials inside and outside the Catholic tradition in efforts to promote civil dialogue and collaboration for the common good.
