Formally the EBD program at GWU:

Dr. Karen Ihrig
Dr. Elisabeth Hess Rice
Dr. Doran Gresham
Dr. Beth Tuckwiller
Susan Jaffe
Emily Baker The program in special education for children with emotional and behavioral disabilities provides training for teachers of students with EBD in the psychoeducational theoretical framework. Graduate students in the program gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes

necessary to facilitate effective instruction and improve outcomes for troubled students, grades K-8. The full-time program for teaching children with EBD is a one-year program of study, wherein graduate interns complete a two-semester clinical internship during the school day and attend course work at night. This model is centered on the daily team-teaching experience at one of the three professional development schools (PDSs) partnered with the University. The program prepares highly qualified educators to teach students with learning and emotional problems. The program meets requirements for licensure in special education K-12 in the District of Columbia. It is part of the unit within the Graduate School of Education and Human Development that is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and is approved by the State Education Agency-Board of Education of the District of Columbia. Students who complete the program and the required PRAXIS tests are eligible to apply for teacher licensure in the District of Columbia. Students are encouraged to investigate the licensure requirements for states in which they plan to work to determine current requirements.

So, GWU EBD is back! For all of those wonderful graduates out there, we want to connect. It took us a while to get ourselves together but now we are on the move and back in action.

We have a new name, Exceptional Educators for Equity (the triple E) but you'll still find the same philosophy (plus some new well-being and cultural responsiveness themes). Our faculty are Dr. Karen Ihrig, Dr. Beth Tuckwiller, Dr. Doran Gresham, and me!

We also have wonderful staff members and soon to be doctors: Susan Jaffe and Emily Baker working with us.

Get ready to hear more. We are going to add some new credo and need your help.

I can't believe I have been at GWU since 1995. My proudest moments are seeing and hearing about how the GWU grads are helping change the world.

Stay tuned!!!!!!

A telemental health network would provide on-demand access to virtual mental health care more than 35,000 students in the Florida panhandle when they return to school this fall.

Just one day after signing into law a massive new telehealth bill, Florida's First Family is launching a telemental health program to help school students affected by Hurricane Michael.
