[Two Koreas: Research & Record Study Trip 2019/ May 27 - June 2, 2019]
10 students from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies | SAIS enrolled in Dr. James Person's Two Koreas: Research and Record traveled to South Korea in late May to attend lectures and meet with various government officials, experts and scholars at multiple research centers, institutes and universities. The students learned firsthand Korean politics, economics, and culture throughout the trip.
They visited various institutes including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea, donga.com, U.S. Forces Korea, 대한민국 국회 (National Assembly), 북한인권정보센터 NKDB, Korea International Trade Association, KBS , and Hangyeore Middle and High School.
Students met with Korean policymakers including Dr. Park Jin, former National Assemblyman and the President of Korean-American Association, General JUNG Seung Jo (ROKA, Ret.), Former Chairman of the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Assemblyman Sangwuk Ji, National Assemblyman 함진규 (HAM Jin Gyu), and National Assemblyman 윤상현 (YOON Sang-hyun), who is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs & Unification Committee of the National Assembly.
The students also met with SAIS alumni, and hosted a gathering welcoming new incoming students in Seoul.
