Return to Our Stomping Grounds
The upcoming summer session marks a key milestone: we will be offering the first face-to-face courses on campus in over one year. That will allow us a gradual expansion of our campus community.
Our fall sports athletes will return to campus to train after a year away. We anticipate a larger number of students for our orientation programs as we welcome not only new students for this fall, but also new students from last fall who have not yet experienced the campus first-hand.
We know that Deaf students thrive in visually-oriented settings, and that our students need and value an ASL-vibrant environment. Our approach will be to prioritize face-to-face learning for our students, and a healthy and safe campus environment for everyone. We also recognize there will be a need for some online courses, and will explore how to weave those in with the face-to-face campus experience.
What will happen next?
Registration is open for the summer sessions. We strongly encourage students to register as quickly as possible for the face-to-face courses as space is limited. Online courses are also available. Housing applications are being accepted from summer students who register for face-to-face courses.
Fall 2021 registration will open on April 19. It is anticipated that most, if not all, courses will be taught in person, adhering to capacity limits set by DC Health. Programs that are typically taught online, or designed to be, will continue to be online. Residence Life will begin to accept housing applications shortly after registration opens.
We fully recognize the need to make travel arrangements back to campus as soon as possible, and are working quickly to determine the requirements for a safe return. Quarantine and other safety protocols are being reviewed in light of current CDC and DC Health rules and recommendations. Safety will remain our top priority.
Announcements about return to campus dates and the health and safety requirements, will be made as soon as feasible over the next few weeks.
