Action & Brain Lab Action & Brain Lab at Gallaudet University, part of the PhD in Educational Neuroscience Program and VL2

At Gallaudet University's Action & Brain Lab, we use EEG and other psychophysiological measures to investigate the neural substrates of action as applied to visual language and visual learning. Topics include the role of experience in learning new actions, self-other body representations, and the role of mirroring systems in signed languages. We are a part of the PhD in Educational Neuroscience (P

We are happy to kick off a new school year at the Action & Brain Lab by welcoming two new graduate students into our lab! First, we introduce Ashley Xu.

Ashley is from Zhejiang, China. She moved to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue her bachelor’s degree. She has a BS in Brain & Cognitive Science and a BA in Psychology from University of Rochester, where she learned ASL and gained research experience working with Deaf people. Her prior research experience focused on sensory information processing in D/HH population using neuroimaging methods including EEG and MRI. She’s excited to join ABL and continue her passion in researching deaf brain development and sensory information processing shaped by deafness or acquisition of sign language.

Ashley, we are thrilled to have you and cannot wait to see what comes from your time with us. Welcome, Ashley, and congratulations to all other new graduate students starting their graduate work in this uncertain world.
