Twenty-four graduates completed over 1,500 hours of training in the Barber Academy on June 11, ready to stand for licensure and take their place in the industry. The path ahead for many of them is already clear. Graduates from the previous class have opened their own shops and are working throughout the area. Some current graduates are already working in the field as well!
Instructor Russell Shaw put it simply: "The it factor for a barber, it can be fashion or trending cuts, but let it be your work ethic; let it be your showing up; let it be your staying there when the money isn't there. That's what causes someone to be influential. That's what causes impact."
Congratulations to Jason Bennett, Herman Branch, Makeba Dudley, Nikeya Edwards, Detric Everett, Maurice Gooding, Terrance Grimes, Amayo Harris, Damien Hughey, Camden Jackson, Gabriel Jimenez, Shyheim Manning, Jada Marks, Bryson Mascarenhas, Enya Moore, Elvis Morales-Monter, Derek Paige, Javaree Perkins, Marquis Pitman, James Sherman, Tanner Tyer, William Wainwright, Armani Watson and Uriel Vazquez Alvarez. Makeba Dudley, Detric Everett, and Bryson Mascarenhas are not pictured.
The next daytime session runs Aug. 3 through Dec. 1, and the next evening session runs Sept. 8 through April 4. The program qualifies for the Beaufort Promise Scholarship, covering the registration fee for qualified students. For more information, visit www.beaufortccc.edu/barber

Congratulations to Bill Ziegler on receiving the BCCC Golden Apple Award! “I am excited to recognize Bill Ziegler, Dean of Arts & Sciences, by passing the Golden Apple to him. Bill has been a tremendous asset to BCCC since his first day as a faculty member and continues to make a lasting impact in his role as Dean of Arts and Sciences. Bill consistently leads with kindness, patience, and professionalism. He has fostered a culture among those who work alongside him that is built on positivity, reliability, respect, and collaboration. Bill approaches every interaction I’ve had with him with a calm demeanor, a willingness to collaborate, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. Bill’s impact can be seen across campus through the relationships he builds and the example he sets for others. His dedication to BCCC, commitment to excellence, and unwavering professionalism make a difference every day. I am honored to pass the Golden Apple to Bill.” – Bill was nominated by prior Golden Apple recipient Lindsay Temple.

From blueprint to boat launch!

After months of hard work, dedication, and craftsmanship, our Boat Manufacturing students recently completed the float test of the 22.5-foot custom cold-molded boat they have been building since August.

This exciting milestone is a true reflection of the skills, knowledge, and teamwork our students have developed throughout the program. There's nothing quite like seeing months of planning and hands-on work successfully take to the water!

The boat is scheduled to be completed this summer and will be available for auction in July. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the finished product!

We are incredibly proud of our students and the outstanding work they continue to produce. Congratulations on reaching this major achievement!

The past several weeks, our students have been practicing the essential steps of performing a venipuncture, focusing on proper technique, patient safety, infection control, and specimen collection procedures. Through hands-on lab experiences, they are building the confidence and skills needed to transition successfully into the clinical setting.
We are proud of the dedication and professionalism these students continue to demonstrate as they prepare for the next phase of their training.
