lly opened in 1966 and became a comprehensive community college with the addition of arts and sciences to the curriculum in 1992. The name was officially changed from Hawkeye Institute of Technology to Hawkeye Community College in July 1993. The main campus is located near the southeast edge of Waterloo, Iowa. The growing cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls offer diverse cultural experiences and all the amenities of a big city with a small town feel. There’s always something to do with various recreational activities and entertainment including performing arts centers, children’s theater, museums, sporting events, a casino, and comedy clubs.

Last week, the Hawkeye Community College Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center came alive during the English Language Learning Next Step Ceremony with the words and performances of students showing off their newfound fluency 👏✨

The ceremony celebrated students' completion of the English Language Learning course and their hard work throughout the semester. Select students were presented with awards in recognition of their dedication to their learning and some were awarded scholarships to assist in their future studies 🎓🏆

Several students were recognized during the Dental Hygiene Pinning Ceremony for their outstanding achievement and contributions to the program.

Olivia Molitor was named the 2025-2026 SADHA Outstanding Student Member, recognizing her as “a standout leader, clinician, and advocate who embodies the core values of the Dental Hygiene Association.”

Molly Lee was presented with the Outstanding Student Award from the Iowa Dental Hygienists’ Association in recognition of her leadership and academic success.

Avery Shelton was presented with the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler award, which is given to an outstanding graduating Dental Hygiene student.

Members of the Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association leadership were also recognized for their contributions to the organization
