The Valley Forge Military Academy & College Historical Museum was dedicated and named after the late Ira Thomas Goldblum ’69, ’71 on Sunday, June 14 in Mellon Hall in front of his family members, friends and other members of The Forge Family.
Mr. Goldblum graduated from The Academy as a member of ‘B’ Company in 1969. He continued on to become an alumnus of The College in 1971 as a member of ‘F’ Company and the Regimental Staff.
During his time at The Forge and after, Goldblum earned several of Valley Forge’s highest honors, including the Order of Anthony Wayne, Outstanding Alumnus and the Golden Sword. He became the Director of Alumni Relations in 2014, bringing an unmatched knowledge of Valley Forge history, traditions, customs and alumni and a passion for preserving the spirit and legacy of Valley Forge before his passing in 2024.
“This museum was one of Tom’s greatest passions,” said Col. Stuart B. Helgeson, USMC (Ret), President of VFMC. "He understood that preserving our history was essential to preserving our identity. It was therefore fitting that this museum bear his name. Future generations of cadets, alumni, families and visitors who walk through these doors will learn about the history of Valley Forge and in doing so will also encounter the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to preserving it."
